Teaching others how to drive is a rewarding career, offering both earning potential and personal satisfaction by making a positive impact on the lives of teens and adults. With flexible part-time and full-time hours, driver education instructors contribute to the development of young drivers while earning a great supplemental part-time income or a competitive salary. Additionally, we provide 401(k) matching, health, vision, and dental insurance for full-time instructors.

Driving Instructors at Road Ready Driving School guide students through the process of obtaining their Michigan driver's license. Responsibilities include teaching driving theory, demonstrating and practicing driving techniques, coordinating examinations, instructing defensive driving maneuvers, and monitoring student progress.

This opportunity is well-suited for retirees, veterans, teachers, or anyone seeking a rewarding career change within a dynamic and growing organization. The typical pay range is $40,000-$60,000.

To qualify as a driving instructor in Michigan, you must hold a Michigan Driver Education Instructor Certification. Requirements include being 21 years of age, possessing a valid driver's license held continuously for at least 5 years, providing your driver's license number, completing a criminal history check, and passing a general medical exam.

Under Michigan state law, all driver education instructors must complete the Instructor Preparatory Program (IPP). Road Ready Driving School will cover the cost of required classes for prospective instructors seeking certification.
